Thanks to the internet, there are so many ways to find or sell secondhand goods in your neighborhood. Below is a list of websites, Facebook groups and apps that will help you find just what you’re looking for or get rid of things you no longer need.
Craigslist is a great place to find almost anything secondhand near you. You can also find yard and estate sales in your area.
Ebay has used and new items for sale and auction. Be sure to check off “used” in the condition section. You can also specify that you’d like local pickup to narrow it down to items in your area.
Freecycle.org allows users to post items that they have to give away for free or things that they are looking for.
Facebook Marketplace is similar to Craigslist, but is a part of Facebook and allows users to purchase items locally or post goods for free/sale.
City or Town specific Facebook groups – If you type “Your Town” + “free” or “swap” or “for sale” in the Facebook search bar, chances are you’ll be able to find a group where people post items they want to sell or give away. Once you join you’ll be able to see what items are free or for sale near you. For example, I typed “Somerville Free” into the Facebook search and saw a few groups pop up for my area.
LetGo is an app that allows you to quickly list items for sale to people in your area.
